L. Leo Judice Environmental Sciences Elementary

Cultivating Children's Natural Desire to Learn

L. Leo Judice Elementary, an Academy for Environmental Sciences and STEM, is located in Scott and is one of the smaller campuses in the Lafayette Parish School System. This smaller learning community provides a personal nurturing environment for our students. We currently host students in grades Kindergarten through 5th.

At L. Leo Judice learning is interesting, engaging, and fun! The Environmental Science program helps make that possible. Included at our school are various outdoor learning areas and gardens, which give our students a unique opportunity to learn about the environment in a hands-on atmosphere.

Grade level environmental themes provide students with opportunities to explore organisms, habitats, wetlands, and other ecosystems. Teachers have been trained in a variety of environmental and STEM  curriculums, including Project Learning Tree, Project Wild, Jr. Master Gardeners, and Project Lead the Way.

Everyday is Earth Day at L. Leo Judice

In addition to the annual Earth Day celebration, L. Leo Judice incorporates other environmental activites to promote positive use of resources. A school-wide recycling program encourages students and staff to make environmentally conscious choices. Students are active in various environmental projects, including the LSU AgCenter/Master Gardener School Garden Initiative,  LSU Coastal Roots Program, Watershed/Litter Project, and district cooking competitions.

Pathway Focused

Students who attend L. Leo Judice will be eligible for pathway priority to the Environmental Sciences/STEM Academy at Lafayette Middle.
