L. Leo Judice Environmental Sciences Elementary

Cultivating Children's Natural Desire to Learn

L. Leo Judice Elementary, a Project Learning Tree certified school, is located in Scott and is one of the smaller campuses in the Lafayette Parish School System. e think this smaller learning community provides a person, nurturing environment for our students. We currently host students in grades Kindergarten through 5th.

At. L. Leo Judice we think learning should be interesting, engaging, and fun! Our environmental science program helps make that possible. Included at our school are various outdoor learning areas and gardens, which give our students a unique opportunity to learn about the environment in a hands-on atmosphere.

Grade level environmental themes provide students with opportunities to explore organisms, habitats, wetlands, and other ecosystems. Our teachers have attended trainings and workshops to incorporate nature into all areas of the curriculum, including Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and of course, Science.

Everyday is Earth Day at L. Leo Judice

In addition to our annual Earth Day celebration, L. Leo Judice incorporates other environmental activites to promote positive use of our resources. A school wide recycling program encourages our students and staff to make environmentally conscious choices. Our students are active in various environmental projects, including the LSU AgCenter/Master Gardener School Garden Initiative and LSU Coastal Roots Program.
