The Lafayette Parish School System holds its annual Schools of Choice Festival in November. Parents, students and community members are invited to attend this event to learn more about our Choice programs. Each school which offers a Choice program, and those on track to offer Choice programs in future years, will be at the Festival to offer information and answer questions.

Every January, Schools of Choice will host open house programs for parents and students who are considering that school. These events will offer an opportunity to provide more detailed information to prospective Choice students and their families.

Applications to Schools of Choice will be accepted as early as the day of the Choice Festival, but the deadline to apply for admission to a School of Choice will be no later than the third Monday in January.

If a lottery is necessary, it will be conducted on the third Monday of February. Parents will be notified of the outcome of the lottery, by mail, no later than the first day of March.

This year, due to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the deadline to apply will be January 30, 2006.
