A Small School with a Big Heart
L. Leo Judice Elementary is located in Scott, and is one of the smaller campuses in the School System. We think this smaller learning community provides a personal, nurturing environment for our students.
As the Montessori Program grows, more grades will be added, with the school becoming a completely Montessori campus with grades kindergarten through 4 by the 2009-10 school year. However, the number of classes will be limited, to keep L. Leo Judice a small school.
As a Montessori school, L. Leo Judice offers parents of students who attended preschool at Truman Montessori to continue their child's participation in this unique learning process.
Montessori: Our Passport to Learning
Our Montessori philosophy gives our classrooms a different look and feel.
While traditional classrooms focus on conforming to the group, our Montessori classrooms show respect for individual differences.
Traditional classrooms focus on grades, with punishment or reward as motivating factors. Montessori relies on self-motivation and is based on a child-centered learning process.
Instead of the lecture-based learning of the traditional classroom, our Montessori classrooms allow students to learn at their own pace, complete their projects or pursue subjects as they wish according to their interests and enthusiasm.
Our classrooms serve as a library or resource room for the projects and studies of the children as they follow their interests. The children acquire knowledge by using materials designed to enhance conceptual thinking and abstraction, as opposed to the old memorization-regurgitation process of the traditional classroom.
We LOVE learning at L. Leo Judice, and we think it should be interesting, engaging and fun!
