The Lafayette High School Academy of Health Careers Curriculum Framework will:                                              

  • Be aligned to the National Health Care Foundation Standards and national/state/district academic standards
  • Include problem/project-based and interactive learning.
  • Be sequential and age-appropriate
  • Include career luncheons, field trips, and service learning projects
  • Include health and wellness content.
  • Integrate career development and employability skills.
  • Meet postsecondary and Louisiana TOPS requirements.
  • Allow for students to receive LA Dept of Education diploma endorsement.

Other considerations:

  • Appropriate level of each course (regular, honors, gifted) will be determined by teacher, counselor, parents, and student.
  • AHEC of a summer program is usually during the sophomore into junior or junior into senior summer.
  • MASH summer program is usually during the junior to senior summer.
  • As of 2008, the Louisiana Core 4 will be followed (4 years of the 4 core classes in addition to current TOPS requirements).
