The Fall Frenzy is an annual event that kicks off the application period for all pre-K-12 Schools of Choice.

The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 9 a.m. and lasts until 1 p.m. It is held in the main exhibit hall of the Cajundome's Convention Center.

Each School of Choice has a compound in the exhibit hall which contains displays of student work, demonstrations by students and hands-on activities for visiting children to enjoy. There is a stage which features student performances and demonstrations. 

After you have explored the opportunities at our Schools of Choice, you can apply at the event. 

New this year is the opportunity to apply for our preschool programs online. All families who wish their children to attend a preschool program at a School of Choice (J. Wallace James, French or Spanish Immersion, etc.) should definitely apply online. We will hold a lottery for these slots at the same time as our K-12 lottery.

Again this year we will be giving away iPod Nanos to eighth graders who come to the Fall Frenzy. In October, a packet of information about our high school academies, including a DVD that shows you what our academies are like, will be sent to all eighth-graders attending school in the system. All you have to do is bring the entry card in the packet to the Fall Frenzy, along with your school ID, to register to win one of three iPod Nanos that will be given away during the event. You must be an eighth-grader living in Lafayette Parish and you must be present to win. This give-away is only for kids!

If you didn't get a packet, or you don't attend a public school, you can call 521-7167 after October 15, 2008 to obtain a packet.
